Gurbir S Saluja MD, FAAP

Founding Physicians

Gurbir S. Saluja, MD, FAAP, is a founding partner of Advocare Vernon Pediatric & Family Care. He is board
certified in both pediatrics and pediatric hematology and oncology, and is a fellowof the American Academy
of Pediatrics.


Dr. Saluja was chief resident while completing his pediatric residency training at QueensHospital Center in
New York. He also completed a fellowship in pediatric hematology and oncology at New York's Long Island
Jewish-Hillside Medical Center in 1975. Dr. Saluja received dual bachelor's degrees in medicine and surgery
from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, India.


Dr. Saluja is on staff at Newton Memorial Hospital, Morristown Memorial Hospital (Goryeb Children's Hospital)
and St. Clare's Hospital. He was previously chief of staff and chief of pediatrics at two local hospitals, and
served as school physician for the Hamburg School System for more than 20 years. Dr. Saluja has also been
named a New Jersey Favorite Kids' Docs from New Jersey Family magazine multiple times.


Dr. Saluja and his wife, Manmohan K. Saluja, MD, who is also his partner in Advocare Vernon
Pediatric & Family Care, have two sons.

 



Gurmit S Saluja MD, FAAP

Specialty: Pediatrics

Gurmit S. Saluja, MD, FAAP, is board certified in pediatrics and a fellow of the American Board of
Pediatrics.

After completing his pediatric residency training at Philadelphia's St. Christopher's Hospital for Children
in 2001, Dr. Saluja joined his parents in practice at Advocare Vernon Pediatric & Family Care. A graduate
of Cornell University, Dr. Saluja received his medical degree from Finch University of Health Sciences/The
Chicago Medical School.

Dr. Saluja is on staff at Morristown Memorial Hospital (Goryeb Children's Hospital), St. Clare's Hospital and
Newton Memorial Hospital, where he recently served as chief of pediatrics. He also serves on the board of
several nonprofit organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics' New Jersey Pediatric Council
on Research and Education, which is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of children throughout
New Jersey.

Dr. Saluja has been named a New Jersey Favorite Kids' Docs from New Jersey Family magazine multiple times.
He and his wife have two daughters.

 



Diana Huzar DO

Specialty: Pediatrics

Diana Huzar, DO, joined Advocare Vernon Pediatric & Family Care in 2009 after completing her pediatric
residency training at Stony Brook University Hospital in Stony Brook, New York. In May 2009, the Stony
Brook Foundation presented Dr. Huzar with the Dr. Martin Hauptman Award, given annually to a pediatric
resident for demonstrating exceptional medical ability and humanism in the field of Pediatrics.

Dr. Huzar earned her doctor of osteopathy degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine.
She received a master's degree in biology from Seton Hall University, and a bachelor's degree from
Rutgers University.

Dr. Huzar is affiliated with the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Osteopathic Association,
the American Medical Association, and the Suffolk Pediatric Society. As a clinician, her interests include
nutrition education, obesity, asthma management and pervasive developmental disorders.
Dr. Huzar also speaks Polish.

 



Navneesh K Kabarwal MD, FAAP

Specialty: Pediatrics

Navneesh K. Kabarwal, MD, FAAP, is board-certified in pediatrics and a fellow of the American Academy
of Pediatrics. She received her medical degree at SUNY Upstate Medical University after graduating from
the University of Rochester with honors, where she earned a bachelor's degree in both Biology and History
. In addition, Dr. Kabarwal holds certifications in Pediatric Advance Life Support and Basic Life Support.

After completing her pediatric residency in 2007 at the UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson Medical School,
Dr. Kabarwal served as medical director at the Harriet Tubman Residential Center, a step-down facility for
adolescent girls operated by the New York State Office of Child and Family Services. She joined Advocare
Vernon Pediatric & Family Care in June 2011 after practicing in New York State for several years.

Dr. Kabarwal's areas of clinical expertise include child development, adolescent medicine, autistic spectrum
disorders and behavioral problems with a specific focus on ADHD and depression.

 




Emelynn J Fajardo DO

Specialty: Pediatrics

Dr. Fajardo joined Advocare Vernon Pediatric & Family Care in 2013. After achieving her bachelor's degree in
biology at The College of New Jersey, she earned her medical degree in osteopathic medicine from the University
of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She completed her pediatric internship and residency at Atlantic Health
System's Goryeb Children's Hospital, and her fellowship in pediatric sports medicine at the Jersey Shore University
Medical Center where she was trained by one of the founding fathers of sports medicine, Dr. Stephen Rice, at
Jersey Shore Sports Medicine Center and Concussion Center in Neptune, New Jersey.

During her fellowship training, she served as the team physician for Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ and
Raritan High School in Hazlet, NJ. She also provided medical coverage for the NJ Youth Soccer Olympic Development
Program in addition to several other mass participation athletic events throughout the state of New Jersey.

Dr. Fajardo is a member of numerous medical associations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, The
American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, and the American College of Sports Medicine. Her areas of clinical
interest include sports medicine, concussion and MTBI, and osteopathic manipulative therapy.

When away from the office, Dr. Fajardo enjoys exercise and remains active in several sports including soccer,
snowboarding, cycling, tennis, and running.

 



Yelena V Pyatov MD, MHA

Specialty: Family Medicine

Dr. Pyatov joined Advocare Vernon Pediatric & Family Care in 2014. After receiving both her bachelor’s degree in
Nursing and her master’s degree in Health Management and Policy from The University of Iowa, she earned her
medical degree from the College of Medicine at The University of Vermont, Burlington. She completed her pediatric
internship at Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York and her family medicine residency at Overlook Medical
Center. Dr. Pyatov is a member of numerous medical associations, including the American Academy of Family
Physicians and the NJ Academy of Family Physicians.

Focusing on preventive care, clinical information systems, and integrative medicine, Dr. Pyatov’s goal is to help
patients heal, partner with them to take better care of their health and help prevent chronic diseases using the
simplest, safest and most effective methods. She loves sharing what she learns with patients to help them find
solutions that work for their lifestyle.

Dr. Pyatov immigrated to the United States from Moscow, Russia when she was a young teen. Away from the office,
she finds comfort in nature and enjoys exploring art museums and attending theater and dance performances.

 



Afreen Khan DO 

Specialty: Family Medicine

Afreen Khan, DO, a board-certified family physician, joined Advocare Vernon Pediatric & Family Care in June 2016.
After earning her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, she completed her
internship and residency at Atlantic Health System, Overlook Hospital.

Dr. Khan is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Osteopathic Association, the
American College of Osteopathic Family Practitioners and the Texas Association of Osteopathic Physicians and
Surgeons.

Dr. Khan’s areas of clinical interest include preventative medicine and women’s health. Additionally, she is currently
working towards her integrative and functional medicine certification. In her spare time, Dr. Khan enjoys cooking,
gardening and playing with her three children.

 


Manmohan K. Saluja, MD 

Founding Physicians

After dedicating many years to Advocare Vernon Pediatric & Family Care, Manmohan K. Saluja, MD, is
now retired and spending her time with her grandchildren.


A founding partner of Advocare Vernon Pediatric & Family Care, Dr. Saluja completed her pediatric
residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). She earned her bachelor's
degrees in medicine and surgery at King George Medical College, India.


Dr. Saluja is an honorary staff member at Newton Memorial Hospital and St. Clare's Hospital. Since 1981,
she has served as medical director for the Lake Hopatcong Child Health Clinic, providing healthcare for the
uninsured and under-insured. Dr. Saluja previously served as medical director of the Sussex County Health
Department and the Sparta Child Health Clinic.


She and her husband, her co-founding partner in Advocare Vernon Pediatric & Family Care, have two sons.
